Lindsay Lohan really wants to get laid

Lindsay Lohan, or as I affectionately call her "Cinnamon Chesterton," knocked back vodka and champagne at a West Hollywood club the other night. Heeding the drunken call of her fiery master, Lindsay went on a manhunt and set her eyes on Adrian Grenier. But things didn't go as planned, according to NY Daily News:

LiLo at first gravitated to Grenier, pulling off her red leather jacket and pulling him onto the dance floor. But when the girl he came with reclaimed the “Entourage" star, Lohan made her way over to the table where Leo was partying with Kevin Connolly and Lukas Haas. “She was very flirty with Leo," says our spy. “But he wasn't saying much to her." DiCaprio and Grenier and their posses exited around 2 a.m., leaving Lohan with some girlfriends.

Kevin Connolly, foolishly thinking he'd touch his first boob, tried to make a pass at the desperate Lindsay.

Global Initiative To Protect Children From Secondhand Smoke

To back these messages, UICC is publishing a 40-page expert report, "Protecting our children against secondhand smoke". "I love my smoke-free childhood" is the first focus within the World Cancer Campaign, a five-year cancer-prevention effort launched on World Cancer Day 2007. The Campaign offers parents simple steps to share with children to prevent cancer later in life. (http://www.worldcancercampaign.org)

"Tobacco-related cancers lead the list of preventable deaths and hundreds of thousands of people who have never smoked die each year from diseases caused by secondhand smoke. That's why this initiative is so important," says Isabel Mortara, UICC executive director.

In addition to targeting individuals, the UICC encourages decision makers to put cancer on the public agenda.

La Nina and severe weather in the Ohio Valley...there seems to be a bond between the two entities. Much like the bond between Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy, or Daryl Hall and John Oates, or maybe even Ed McMahon and Johnny Carson. You get the idea. Just for review, La Nina is the abnormal cooling of the tropical Pacific waters that usually spells warm and wet weather for the Blue Grass state. But when that warm, moist air clashes with colder, drier air to the north, stronger-than-normal storm systems for mid-winter standards tend to be the result. The past tells us a La Nina pattern can be a recipe for trouble in this part of the world. Sure enough, history repeated itself on February 5th. The "Super Tuesday Outbreak" was one for the ages!

Now I won't rehash all the stats about that deadly night in this post (our links about that are on the weather page just below the forecast discussion), but I want to discuss how similar our current pattern is to another La Nina season: 1973-1974.

Daily Blabber Celebrity Gossip Blog from iVillage Entertainment

Just like last month, Tracy and I will be debating some of the things we disagreed on this month. Read our back and forth, then tell us what you think. First up? Avril Lavigne...

Suzy: Worse than last month's obsessive love of Will Smith, this time it was your love of Avril "the Spitter" Lavigne. You love her? Really? Personally, I think she should be banished from the music world for mispronouncing rock legend David Bowie's name when she read the Grammy nominations. Then again, it's not like she's truly a musician... she's more of a lip-syncing little troll.

Tracy: Give me break! In a world of pop music tartlets, Avril is one chick who has her head on straight. She does what she wants and makes no apologies -- I find that admirable. She's managed to have a successful career without slutting around Hollywood and is, spitting aside, a strong role model for young girls.

Curt Cavin: IRL & Formula One Q&A

No one is going to build a racetrack in this bullish market, and the only other track is Pocono, which actually isnt out of the question. Tony George, in particular, likes the track, but I guess Ill be surprised to see Indy cars there again.

Question: I know you have addressed this before, but with Tony George seemingly having a great time at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, have the odds of a Grand Am race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway increased? (Kent, Indianapolis).

Answer:: I dont think so. First of all, when would you hold such a race? The Speedways staff is already taxed with three major events, and plans are being made for a Moto GP race. Id say thats enough. And truthfully, for as cool as the 24 Hours is, I dont see Grand Am being big enough to be a stand-alone event at the greatest racetrack in the world.

Steve and Mia: Her sexenomics supply doesn't = his demand

Steve is a 50-something married man who's been around the block. Mia is a 20-something single immersed in the Center City dating scene. They may not agree, but they have plenty of answers. If you'd like an answer to your romantic troubles, e-mail them at S&M@phillynews.com or write: S&M c/o Daily News, Box 7788, Philadelphia, PA 19101.

Q: I am in my late 30s and have been married for more than 10 years. My wife and I are very Catholic and do not use birth control; we use the rhythm method. That translates into me having to go more than a week without sex. I tend to have nocturnal emissions (wet dreams) when I am deprived of sex. Is it normal for somebody in my age bracket to still have wet dreams? Could it be some medical issue?

Steve: Yes and no. Sex researcher Alfred Kinsey found nocturnal emissions common among men well into their 50s and even in some patients in their 80s.

Letters, 1/29: Consider all options for Fair

The tragedy of those young and old lives cut short is no more significant than the daily loss of our young in the Middle East. And it’s half a century less poignant. The Jan. 21 pages made the whole story worthwhile in my mind, with the coverage of the terrible, lasting damage to Starkweather’s own loved ones. Somehow, these killers think their gruesome deeds will bring fame to themselves, make their enemies grieve and their loved ones rejoice. It isn’t so. If we can’t get some concept of the value of innocent life through the juvenile or demented mind of the prospective killer, maybe we can make it clear that they’ll never get the "fame" they seek. They’ll never attract rational admirers, and their own loved ones and admirers will not live happily ever after in the glow of the publicity.

Abuse probe widens after arrest

MECHANICVILLE — The arrest of a school bus driver in Saratoga Springs has triggered an investigation in this city, where 35-year-old Douglas Conrad used to live.

Mechanicville police are revisiting allegations made in 2002 by two children who stayed at the home day care of Conrad's aunt, and also looking into unrelated possible abuse in the last 18 months, Mechanicville Police Chief Joseph Waldron said.

At the time in 2002, authorities couldn't press charges because there was no physical evidence indicating Conrad exposed himself to a 4-year-old and a 6-year-old whose family came forward.

“Unfortunately in these cases, you have to rely on a lot of physical evidence instead of witness testimony, because you're talking about 4- and 6-year-olds," Waldron said, adding that Conrad cooperated “up to a certain point" in that investigation.

Tax now off proposal

I left the meeting with the response from the aldermen that maybe you need to take this out," he said.

Ron Riches, who is on the board of the Natchez Convention and Visitors Bureau, confirmed that the restaurant tax is no longer part of the proposal.

“We want to unite the city and the people going out to dinner, 80 percent of the people that would be taxed would be locals," Riches said.

What is still being proposed is the hotel charge.

Because the restaurant tax has been dropped, Riches said the occupancy charge will be raised to compensate.

Initially, the charge was to be $1 per occupied room but a $2 per room charge will now be proposed at the Feb. 20 meeting.

Walter Tipton, director of the Natchez Convention Center said he cannot speak for NCVB, but said he doubts the restaurant tax would have ever passed with the board of aldermen.

Hillary Rodham Clinton is right this time

I'm not sure how I'll make it through the day. I was sure this was the perfect match. Kid Rock, Tommy Lee (the husbands) and all the other boyfriends weren't right for her. But Salomon, the poker playing online sex video guy? Who'd have thought he wasn't the one for the former Baywatcher!

Let's respect their privacy in these difficult times.

All bar voting from prison, then go on to bar participation while on parole or probation. Two states, Maine and Vermont, allow prisoners to vote from behind the walls, as does Canada and a number of other countries.

The politicians and pundits are all abuzz with the massive turnouts in the primaries and caucuses. There are increasing percentages of women participating, and initial reports point to more young people. The youth vote is particularly important, as young people have less invested in the status quo and can look with fresh eyes at long-standing injustices that disenfranchise so many. In this context, one of The Sentencing Project's predictions bears repeating here: "Given current rates of incarceration, 3 in 10 of the next generation of black men can expect to be disenfranchised at some point in their lifetime.
