Cosmo says: Apple store is the best place to meet men

Hey, I'm no relationship guru (I write about tech, for goodness' sake). So when my single friends ask me about the best places to meet men in San Francisco, I draw a blank. As much as I'd like to help them meet a Silicon Valley man-which is what they're really after-I can't, because I don't know many single men or where they hang out. I'm married, and my friends know that.

But I guess deep down they hope I can introduce them to a few geek friends, because you know, I'm in the "tech field." If I didn't know better, I'd tell them to just go online, since that's where the guy geeks are. But a Cosmopolitan article says the best place to meet guys is at the Apple store.

Yes, the Apple store! Who would've thought?

Those experts in sex, love, and dating say most guys are natural gadget lovers, and the vibe at the Apple store is "conducive to man meeting." The article goes on to suggest single women should enroll in a free workshop, check their email while at the store, or just stop by to survey the store's "good-looking merchandise." I guess this puts male "Geniuses" at a great advantage.

Man trolled the web for girls: Cops

Online social clubs prove beneficial to moms

The pickup lines are the same. But they're delivered with a mommy twist."Do you come here (the playground) often?""Do you want to come to my place, or shall we go to yours?"Mothers of young children, who a few years ago may have been looking for Mr. Right in a bar, now are seeking Mrs. Right and her kids in between the swings and the slides at the local playground.Women also are going online to find moms who match their personality and interests, much like singles use an online dating service."You scope 'em out," says Magalie Belanger, 31, about prospective mommy-friends in Helena, Mont. "You see how they deal with their children, and with yours."It's like dating, but the dates are with other moms and their children. While the kids play, hopefully without tantrums or biting, the moms are free to talk about the things they have in common, from the lofty subjects of religion and politics to the more practical topics of teething and diaper rash."Women, they want someone else who is going through the same thing," says Drury Sherrod, a Los Angeles social psychologist who studies friendship.Often, that can mean seeking out other women in the same trimester of pregnancy or whose children are similar in age, he says.Kate Harmon, 41, of Concord, Mass., recalls how 10 years ago she fell into the perfect support group while her husband was a graduate student in Boston.

Airport upgrade on the anvil

THE MIRROR: Point and Counterpoint (Browne)

College males have it hard, especially at Dartmouth. Hanover is not really what you'd call the dating hotspot of the Lake Sunapee region, so avenues to meet those women you want to take home to mom are limited. Luckily for Dartmouth men, there is still one avenue where guys can meet ladies and show off their skills. This avenue, my friends, is the dance party. In 2003 Dane Cook uttered the phrase, "Dude, I just wanna dance." When he said this, Dartmouth men everywhere stood up and cheered. Not only do Dartmouth guys love the dance party, but we also know how to treat a lady on the dance floor. For all the men out there who aren't avid dance party–goers and don't know the codes of conduct, take what I say as scripture. And just for everyone's information, the tips I'm giving are not just my observations, but also extensive research of reading over 100 Dartmouth women's diaries and Xanga profiles.

zinda of Australia says… I salute Ratu Epeli on his insightful approach. However yet another dimension to this needs to be explored. How much of the $40million lease money really trickles down to grassroot Fijians needs to be assessed. And I do mean 'trickle' doen to orfinary Fijians given that the hierarchy 'sponges' up most of this sum.

Did Dodi Fayed sleep with model while courting Diana?

While he was courting Princess Diana, Dodi Al Fayed was continuing to have passionate all-night sex with his soon to be ex-lover, an underwear model, according to a taped phone conversation.

"You even flew me down to St Tropez to sit on a boat while you seduced Diana all day and f--- me all night," said Kelly Fisher in the final phone call between her and her former lover Fayed, a transcript of which was read in the inquest into Diana's death Wednesday.

"You told me you didn't even like her... why do you suddenly like her?" Fischer continued, according to the transcript.

Fisher said she made the call after hearing second hand through media reports that Fayed was dating Diana.

Taped by secretly Fisher in August 1997, Fayed and his jilted lover trade allegations about which one of them walked out first during the 20-minute phone conversation.

Fara fires England

Powell had made just one change to her team's starting line-up, Lianne Sanderson coming in to lead the attack with Kelly Smith stepping back into her usual role just behind the front line and midfielder Jill Scott dropping to the substitutes' bench.

Smith had the first goalscoring opportunity of the match, but as she met right-winger Karen Carney's cleverly flighted fourth- minute free-kick at the far post the striker miscued her volley well wide.

England continued probing, but some neat approach play failed to produce any further early chances and it was at the other end where Siobhan Chamberlain had to make the game's first save, a diving stop from Solveig Gulbrandsen's 23rd-minute effort.

Seven minutes later England should have taken the lead.
